The work week can be tough and both physically and emotionally draining at times. Here's a tip that'll surprise your sweetheart and soothe away their worries: a romantic, candle-lit bath.
• Arrive home before your love and prepare a warm bubble bath. Don’t wait too late to start it, but don’t let it sit for too long either.
• Light some candles around the bathroom that have a pleasant and soothing aroma like ocean breeze or lavender. When the bath is fully prepared, turn off the lights to reveal the romantic glow of the candlelight.
• For an added element of romance, play some of your sweetheart’s favorite music.
• If you’re feeling especially romantic, leave a trail of rose petals or paper hearts running from the doorway into the bathroom.
Nothing’s more soothing and romantic than a massage from the one you love. Surprise your sweetheart with an evening of relaxation and pampering. Here are 5 simple steps to the perfect massage:
1) Be sure the room is set at a warm and comfortable temperature.
2) Make sure your loved one is relaxed. You can do this by setting the mood with candles, dim lighting and soothing music.
3) Select a mild scent for the massage oil, such as lavender or eucalyptus. These tend to be more soothing than strong scents like vanilla or peppermint. We suggest using oil meant for massaging, since these tend to be a bit thicker than other oils.
4) Start at the neck and shoulders and work your way down. Don’t forget the hands and feet.
5) Be sure to check with your partner and adjust pressure accordingly.
There is a line in a John Mayer song that resonates with me and guides me in my efforts to embrace love and romance both personally and professionally. “I believe that my life’s going to see the love I give returned to me”.
I am not perfect nor am I an expert in love and romance however, since joining Couples Resorts in 2001, my passion for creating emotional connections between our guests, staff and our company cannot be denied. One of the most vivid testaments to this passion involves reading guests’ love letters over the phone and in person. Hundreds of Couples Resorts’ guests (past, present and future) regularly to submit letters along with dates and times to call their significant others. Typically, my call catches the person on the other end of the line completely off guard. Sometimes they are suspicious and ask something like “OK Joe, is that you?”, but mostly they are shocked and silenced as they listen to the love I am relaying from their significant other. The calls usually and end in tears of joy - often on both ends of the phone. I have called a Board Room to read a love letter over a speakerphone and a Nurses Station at a hospital, Rehearsal Dinners, and the Groom just before walking down the aisle. Newlyweds en route to the airport for their flight to Jamaica and to our resort rooms, including one to a wake up the Groom-to-be. I get such joy from these calls. My life is already seeing the love I give returned to me.
